First Church's Updates
Weekly Update for First Church of the Brethren, March 23, 2026
Matthew 21:8-9
8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
There’s a very dark shadow hanging over Jesus’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem. In matter of days, this throng of supporters will betray and abandon Him, and he is crucified.
But never, Never, NEVER forget that there is an even brighter, more glorious ending over even that darkest of shadows. Jesus may be crucified, but three days later He rises from the grave!
Palm Sunday is a day of mixed emotions. Just like in our lives, there are highs, and there are lows. There are ups and there are downs. But in the end, we are the ones who are “blessed” because He was willing to take that journey with, and for, us.
– Pastor Dave
