First Church's Weekly Update

Weekly Update for First Church of the Brethren June 2, 2023
 
Psalm 8: 1  Lord, our Lord how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.
Do you still take time to admire and give thanks for the beauty of God's creation? But notice that the Psalmist talks about how great God is even before he addresses the beauty of creation. So...do you still take time to admire and give thanks for the beauty of God
 
 
Church Picnic is June 11th at the Ponderosa. Please add this event to your calendar. Swimming begins at 4 pm, with a lifeguard present. The meal will be at 5 p m.   
Directions to 343 Ponderosa Lane, RS: On Cove Lane Road between Smith Transport and Cross Cove Road turn onto Bailey Lane.  Travel about 450 feet. Then turn onto Ponderosa Lane. Watch for signs.

No candlelighters are scheduled for the summer. Please check with the usher before the service if you are willing to serve that morning.
 
Our Hospitality Team is sponsoring a Christmas in July Craft & Vendor Show Saturday, July 22nd.
It will be held from 10 am to 3 pm at the Albright Church of the Brethren and will benefit the Roof Repair Fund. Please see Cathie Pollard for an application and more information.
 
Our church will provide a sand art activity for children at the Roaring Spring Community Picnic on August 5, 1-4 pm. You can help with donations of small, 4-7 oz. glass or clear plastic jars with lids (jars for baby food, cherries, olives, jelly, etc.) before July 31. Place them in the labeled box in the overflow room.
 
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL  will be held at the church August 1 – 3 from 6 – 8:30 pm.

Worship with us

 Sunday worship 9:25 am
Sunday School will be held for youth/adults beginning June 11th in the Overflow Room. No Sunday School is offered for children during the summer.

Fellowship Time is held the second Sunday of the month except in June, July and August
Children's Church ​is offered for children ages 4 through 5th grade.
Choir  is open to all singers, No audition necessary. They are not active during the summer months of June, July, or August.
Bible Study is held Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am in Room 402.​

A nursery is available for children 8 weeks through 3 years of age
Activity bags appropriate for children 4 years through 2nd grade are available from any Usher.
